Dealing With Acne in Teens
Teen acne is a problem that has been plaguing teenagers all over the world today. If you are one of the many people suffering from teenage acne, take comfort in the fact that you are not the only teenager suffering from the condition. In fact, it is actually a good thing that a lot of teenagers are commonly suffering from acne. This is because there is more motivation for research studies to be conducted, towards the effective treatment of the condition. Your best defense against the condition, as a teenager, is to become as informed as you can be about the condition.
Why does acne particularly occur during the teenage years of a boy or girl? If you would take a look at the puberty stage and development of a person, you would see that the human body goes through so many changes of all kinds. Hormonal changes, in particular, are common during puberty. With hormonal changes, your sebaceous glands actually become overactive, and they produce excess sebum oil. When the excess oil becomes trapped in your facial pores, your pores would become clogged in the process, resulting in the formation of acne.
The bad thing about teen acne is the fact that its appearance can direct attention to the face. And these inflamed spots are not really nice to look at, which can really affect any person’s self esteem and confidence, much less that of a teenager!
There are actually different types of acne. These are whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, and nodules or cysts. Whiteheads are not inflamed build-ups and can be found on the surface of the face or the skin. This is the least severe of all acne types. Blackheads, on the other hand, are clogged in the facial pores, which gives the reason why these are black in appearance. However, these are not yet infected. When they become affected, they will have evolved into pimples already. pimples go beyond clogging because these are already slightly rooted in the skin. This means pimples are deeper than your usual blackhead. Nodules or cysts are the most severe of the four types. These are already very deep and require the expertise of licensed dermatologists for appropriate treatment.
There are actually a number of new medications for acne that are available in the market today. These new products have been proven effective on treating teenage acne. However, because there are so many of them in the market, choosing which ones to purchase and try can be difficult. Thus, it would be so much better to get the guidance of licensed dermatologists. This way, you are sure to get the best possible treatment for your teen acne condition.
